Describe the exposure before choosing a finish
Outdoor use can mean a sheltered sign, a garden table in full sun or a part repeatedly exposed to rain. Write down the location, orientation, expected sunlight, water exposure and seasonal temperature changes. Include whether the object can be brought inside or refinished. These details are more useful than asking whether epoxy is waterproof.
A product can resist water in a defined application while still having limitations under sunlight or heat. Understand what UV resistance does not promise
UV-resistant wording describes resistance, not immunity. Manufacturers may use stabilizers or recommend protective topcoats, but this does not establish a permanently colorless finish under all exposure conditions. A white or nearly colorless artwork may make a small color shift more noticeable than a dark, heavily pigmented design.

For gifts or sales, describe the actual care and placement restrictions. Avoid lifetime clarity guarantees or a fixed replacement interval unsupported by the manufacturer. A responsible outdoor plan pairs a suitable material system with accessible surfaces, periodic inspection and realistic expectations about maintenance and appearance.
Separate cure discoloration from later aging
When did the color change appear? Discoloration visible during the pour or initial cure calls for a review of the batch, starting component color, additives, layer depth and temperature. Timing alone does not prove the cause, so preserve photographs and process notes for the manufacturer.
A piece that began clear and gradually changes during display presents a different investigation. A protected reference sample can help reveal a change, although it is not a standardized durability test.
Do not treat either pattern with improvised heating. Polishing or adding a clear coat cannot be assumed to reverse color throughout the casting. Identify the cause and extent before choosing a documented repair, refinishing plan or remake.
